The Chester County Art Association recently received a $5,000.00 contribution from Exelon Generation in Kennett Square, PA. The funds will be used to support our artREACH program offered at the Garage Community & Youth Center in Kennett Square, PA. A three week free summer art camp was offered for the third consecutive year at the Garage for children and teens. There are also free Saturday art classes offered throughout the school year at this location.

For the second year in a row, CCAA sponsored and organized the "Street Chalk Art Contest" as a component of the West Market Street Block Party. On a Thursday morning in August, 2008, the Chester County Art Association’s summer art camp was visited by the Philadelphia Zoo’s outreach program. Thanks to a partnership with West Chester University and Chester County Art Association, thousands of young students enjoyed a private showing of Willy Wonka, an original Kennedy Center musical based on Roald Dahl's children’s novel. The performance, held in May at the university campus, was an one-time only event and gave students a rare opportunity to see a popular Kennedy Center production that is now on its second national tour.

It's a rare sight to see an art center compete in a flower show, rarer still to earn a mention in the New York Times. For the second time, CCAA entered the "container" display at the Philadelphia Flower Show, and earned top honors with two sets of judges (a 2nd and 3rd place, with both giving the highest points to "design and originality") .
